I agree this is an unfortunate design if the proper oil and service has not been done. With the proper oil and service, screen buildup should not be an issue. The direct injection without a port injection supplement is a real problem with intake valve build up however.

There is ONE rule for German cars. You LEASE them and give them back to the manufacturer. It doesn't make sense to buy or keep them when they are out of warranty. NONE.

Inter cooler🤔 where do I start with VW on this design? That melting stuff you see Rich on this expensive vehicle is what the dealership calls debris. You can have all the scheduled maintenance you want, but they will try to say it is something you did. Just a heads up there is no fixing that. The dealership suggestion is a new engine.

My friend is removing all of the timing belts and the pump on an A6. He had to lift out the engine and it's taken 2 Months and he's not done yet :D Dude. It's quicker to manufacture a NEW CAR than to change the Turbo filter on this POS

Rich you are seriously a great guy must say, if it was me in place of you and I had to do that engine men I would pull the engine out of the bay and put some net gain warp 9 or 11 moter a zilla controller a battery n shut the hood down, man that's crazy lot of work on hard to find screws nuts n bolts men, seriously if I would be fitting it I am dead sure a dozen of bolts would not have made it to their original place in car lolz😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

the only way to keep this car going without any issues with filters etc is changing your oil at least ones a year or at max 3000 km intervals. Anything less is going to create issues with clogged up filters as these engines create a ton of carbon build up inside the engine and the only way to keep this carbon from building up and settling down on the internal parts is flushing more regular with fresh oil since modern oils like Castrol & Shell have the additives that will loosen all the crude and keep it from clogging up filters. I have a V10 myself and was able to safe my engine from a clogged up oil intake screen. Only 2% of the intake holes where still visible/open the moment I pulled my oil pan. This is an issue I have seen since 1986 with the Audi 200 turbo and still up to this day is an issue when you don't do regular maintenance as in changing your oil more regular. Obviously the same goes up for our steering control and transmission oil.

  • towlie911

Oil screen wasn't translucent because there was oil in it held in by surface tension. Blast it out with brake cleaner and it'll be translucent. I would say put it back in

The mouse tribute thing...I was in TEARS!! LMAO! As for those clamps, depending on the pressure of the system, you can replace them with regular serviceable clamps. The only reason they are typically used on OEM is because it is fast on the assembly line. Servicing is an afterthought...as you are finding out.

I feel your pain about getting frustrated working on cars. Nine times out of 10 your plan usually goes right out the window as soon as you hit a snag and now at this point you've totally lost your cool and have turn into a sailor cursing, tool throwing, finger smashing, sweaty maniac yelling in your garage like a crazy deranged caveman right after somebody stole his hunk of meat off the fire! Stages of working on a car. 😇😀😁🤨😡👿😤💣💥🤕😔🥺😥😢😫

Cut out the screens on those turbo filters and reinstall them so oil can pass through freely and then put small in-line filter’s that are easier to get to further back by the oil pump that feeds the turbos

Have your even thought about the garrett turbo rebuild kits? Have you thought about machine shops that could help make you filter flanges from scratch and you could rebuild the TURBOS all that for a wapping maybe 800$ or less so either the TURBOS are Garret or MHI aka Mitsubishi heavy industry TURBOS.. Make the filter flanges without filters and change your oil every 3k to 4k miles you should do well👍

Those pipe crimbs are slightly faster to build in the factory and during service, you can just put those in "misc parts" so nobody else suffers but the car owner. And he or she will probably find this out only after the warranty period is already over so factory doesn't mind.
