My first Tesla Battery Fire
Makina dhe automjete
Well I really did it this time boys, this is what thermal runaway on Tesla 18650 cells look like, remember, safety first and don’t forget to checkout the indiegogo link here!”

Hey Rich & Company, Wanted to share a little Tesla battery/BMS tutorial. We hope it will help explain how to avoid the possible dangers that can come from working with Tesla cells and most other Lithium batteries. Hope you all find some good use for it and it helps make going the BMS route a little less complicated. Thank You! althe.info/number/2IW6h4hma32Mpdw/video

No BMS can fix the fundamental flaw in the dense multi-cell metalic pack. In which the failure of a single cell leads to a cascading catastrophic failure. see my comments below.

This was fake as fck the batteries bond would off burned of way before it could of caught fire... I have seen battery modules actually begin to melt in a UV hammer. And at 7:46 you moved the two vehicles near the road to set the scene for the fire truck act.

One sentence - Class B fire extinguisher. resources.fireprotec.com/how-do-you-put-out-lithium-ion-battery-fire surreyfire.co.uk/co2-fire-extinguishers/ - great for cooling the thermal run-away, and put out the fire at the same time. Sprinkling water on it can actually make it worse, as the water is split into hydrogen and oxygen - lots of ions and electricity at the center of the fire. Dumping tons of water on it will cool and extinguish - as the fire department did. Prepare in advance, or prepare to burn :ø)

This would be something to see & not want to at the same time! Surprised nobody or anything else was burned. Noticed that no one has any PPE on. The firefighter didn't have a helmet, seeing the bottle-rocket battery missle hitting the front of the fire truck. Then asked if it's ammo 🤔

Boring video. It just goes straight in with loads on indecipherable part numbers and things.
Did the landlord evict you or up the crap out of your rent?? You guys were lucky.
Why did you guys not call the fire department at first or did they just get there late
Funny to write "safety first" in the description while having run a large battery pack without BMS. Good advice is, after all, only useful to give it to others.
My sex robot did the same thing, when she climaxed...
This is why I don’t buy Tesla’s products because they are unsafe
😲😲😲
Atleast you were not in it
KULR has something to prevent this from happening.
lithium phospate must always the standard use in EV applications, Li-ion is like a time bomb,
This is what happens if you forgot to insulate your batteries while connecting in series 😂😂😂
Were the firefighters spraying the LITHIUM batteries with WATER???? 💀
She was just so nice to see.
Tagt wenn keindof rong
Should have used a steel containment box
Is the cause of the fire written somewhere handy? Could it be included in the comments?
Will be copyrighted, for military use only 🤣
fire extinguisher was prb not rated to put out electrical fires thats why they didnt work
It is so dumb to have all these individual batteries...
Shit !!!! Good thing this didn’t activate self destruct mode after business hours when no one would be there. Fuck that shit~~~ fuck the paint job on the Tesla it’s now going to be permanently living at the end of the driveway.
In that kind of fire its better to use water extinguishers or just water, or non flammable liquids, the aim is to lower the temperature and stop the chemical reaction, and after use the chemical extinguishers.
all it would take would be a signal to the tesla car, via the 5G grid, via the satellite web currently being launched, and the driver of that tesla gets assasinated. great future
Oh shit !! that burn like firecracker.
If you manned up, got some gloves and a face mask, ripped off the cover and doused it in flame retardent you would have saved the vast majority of it. Now I know what to do to prevent it from ever happening. Weld in steel boxes and add fire resistant sheet rock/tiles/paint with compartments Smart people learn from others mistakes
Note to self don't buy a Tesla
shits probably highly toxic and you touching it. good job
Hey your camera system is better than the pentagons!
Thats how you know its made by tesla
A large capacity LiPo pack damn near killed a friend of mine a few years back.
LI batteries are a nightmare. Technologie stops at batteries. Isnt it possible to build high amp batteries without flamable liquid in them?
Safety guidlines? I'm positive a BMS is necessary, not optional. Good job keeping the damage minimal however.
So glad everything thing turned out as okay as it did an nobody was injured.
Buy a Tesla and get Burned!
UltraFire enters the chat
dont pt water on it
What did you expect?! If there's no management, you are literally playing with explosive fire.
nice toxic pollution set loose there people
Proof money doesn't make ya smart.
Well.. using carbon dioxide fire extinguisher on lithium battery is no smart. Lithium burn when into on oxygen... somepeople cant understand. lithium battery are soo dangerous. so driving with 200KG of lithium on your feets and back is like say. "Hello im a bomb" :v I guess they already forgot Note 7
Should have named this "daisys destruction"
This is what I want to be sitting on while driving. Don't forget the barbecue sauce.
Mercon kkwkwk
Woah those Audi 80 coupes in back 😍😍
Was there a BMS attached? Or just a bunch of cells that got out of balance? What was the cell chemistry? I can't find any info and WTF actually happened to cause the fire?
Me im so poor i would have cut the wires of the one module and took out the one that was starting to pop i would not have let it burn id rather die
Honestly I think this is the best video of the channel so far. I damn well know not to charge the batteries if they're not hooked up to a BMS now. If anything, this could be it's own series. Show what goes wrong if you miss this step, or what goes wrong if you miss that step. But actually in a controlled manner in the future
when auto repair guys think they are engineers... this happens. don't quit your day jobs.
Maybe they should bring back asbestos. What a mess. Water makes lithium angry, maybe use dry extinguisher.
good thing the fire brigade took so long to show up if their reaction to burning lithium is "put some water on that" :'D
I frequently get a good laugh from rich. Would like to see him do comedy one day
Thank you for posting this. I really hope people learn and build safely before legislation makes sale of bare cells illegal in the US.
Why didn't you close the trunk?
Big Clive suggested checking out this particular video. After watching it, my only question is regarding opening an EV shop. Shouldn't you opt for something a bit less exciting? Say, um, chainsaw juggling or being a gator dentist? It seems it might be safer for you. Just a suggestion... Seriously, though terrible accident. Only thing that makes this better is the fact no one was injured or worse and the shop was okay. Sorry to see it. Thanks for sharing.
So for the battery part i prefer car battery.
Dude, Batteries are really dangerous. Careful working on this machines
Chemistry bomb. Zero pollution :)
Dangerous but cool!
Yeah, I'm totally going to your EV shop... total professionals! Lmfao!
Why weren't "proper safety guidelines" followed? Why no BMS? Were the packs charging at the time of combustion? What's the verdict on the cause, and what are the lessons learned? Just imagine how catastrophic the situation would've been had it occurred after hours!
Imagine if it had happened at night...
I thought daisy was gonna fly in the air then lands on a car then the car explodes then goes in the air then lands on another car...and it never ends
If this was the shop's fault who's fault is it when new Teslas do the same thing?
happy new year
They won't be able to make popcorn without having a PTSD flashback.
its just a simple fire works display
It really has nothing to do with the battery management system... other than over charging issues. The Mechanical Failure of a single mass produced chinese battery cell inside the pack ( Just One !).. can lead to this Cascading Battery Meltdown. It is a classic domino effect.. on an exponentially increasing level. This is a world where 10% failure rate of cheap chinese goods is typical.. on the low end.. and 1% on the high end. If there are 1000 cells and 1% fail.. that is 10 igniting cells. but if we say the fail rate is .01 ( point zero one) or 1/10th of 1 % that is still One Bad Cell per 1000. And as we see illustrated here.. It Only Takes One . There are litterally 100's of Teslas that have burned to the ground spontaneously , due to this dense multi-metalic cell design. Look at a video of how a Leaf Battery is manufactured. Look at videos of dissasembled Leaf Battery Packs. Yes, they lack a battery cooling system.. yet they still do NOT burn. Clearly this is due to the method of construction. Tesla Owners are like Trump Cult members.. they will NOT look a fact in the eye. The fact is.. the battery pack design is dangerously concieved.. and no manner of cooling will fix the fact that it has too many parts, and that the failure of just one..leads to an unstoppable catastrophic cascade of failure !
can you see why 1000's of little sealed metal cylinders is NOT the optimum way to package a high power battery.. compared to plastic envelopes ?
Yeah.l rich folks..let your kids sit on that.. so they don't grow up to be a problem for normal people,
It's worse than a burning truck tire.. nothing is going to put it out.. nada. The discharge of electricity does not require oxygen to destroy the battery pack metal. It will blow up nicely in the perfect vacuum of space. Now who wants to ride an Elon Musk Rocket ?
The tesla battery pack is a piece of shit.. and had burned many many tesla cars to the ground. While not One Leaf has burned, even after being badly crashed. This is the legacy of amatuer night engineering, by computer nuts.
what struck me the most, is how good wood is at containing fire.
Hey Rich, Just imagine if they set off on your first drive. That would have been hilarious 😂🤣🤣
Imagine if it was racing fuel! It would have exploded in the workshop and probably killed them and the dog! At least it was just batteries shooting of like live rounds! And your shop is safe.
2 Peter 3:10 New International Version (NIV) 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a] Saint Peter is like : I told you!!!
Did they pour water on the battery fire??
Well at least you can likely rebuild the little car. Its just plywood. Glad you are all safe. Enjoying your videos.
Elon Musk's rockets keep crashing into the ocean as well. Just goes to show that private-enterprise is a joke, compared to communal human effort that put men on the moon on the most powerful machine ever made - The Saturn V rocket.
What caused the batteries to go on fire
damn... they got really lucky that happened when they were in there and were able to get it out so fast. coulda been everything gone
lol, no safety goggles
EVS ARE DANGEROUS THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY COMMON THING
Thanks Rich. I've decided to buy an EV that uses pouch packs because I didn't want to be sitting on 4400 potentially self igniting bullets. You convinced me! ;-)
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah That That That That That Was Was Was Was Was Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool. 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊
What's this intro...
You guys might want to keep a fire blanket around to throw in top and stop the batteries from rocketing around like that.
This is an interesting training video by the fire department. High Voltage Vehicle Firefighting by Brock Archer: althe.info/number/nqGWh5pwh518pbo/video
Welcome to wet lithium!
Lol. Entertaining as hell but dangerous guys.
So how do you put out a Lithium battery fire?
dang Lithium batteries are no joke :o
we need to find safer alternative sources like sealed lead acid batteries for electric cars!
how much do we have to donate for you to take a few diction and elocution lessons
Sir good vedio. People should know this especially Tesla fan boys.
Came from Bigclive's link to here... WOW really enjoyed the fireworks. Phenomenal ‼️
Sure, it's clear that there was nothing else to hand, but you never spray small quantities of water onto a burning metal fire. It reacts violently, and makes things much worse. That's one sad car. We hope that you can fix it.
Rich, Would you please explain a bit on what the root cause of this Thermal Runaway. is that Charger cause this incident? please help to find out and explain to our community just for pre-caution
Don't throw it away. That lithium can be recovered by a chemist and it's valuable.
this is why u dont jerry rig up something like this
WHO NEEDS BONFIRE NIGHT ?
You guys sense of humor is epic.
