electric motors have Instant torque. Try 2 3000w 72 v motors that would be insane

well, even 3000W is only like 4hp so of course a 212cc would smoke it after about 100ft; stock it's 6.5hp. elec's have the advantage of instant torque off the line but actually you need a hella lot of watts to achieve top speeds with short tires. Use 72V 5Kw and controller for 50A+, maybe a 52T sprocket and you could stay ahead of anything but a 125cc 2 stroke...

I've long wanted to make an electric mini bike with an old school (swap meet)Taco style frame. I could then pass it off as a mobility device and use it at the grocery store, swap meet, mall, etc...But all I know about electricity is that AC/DC is a great band.

I don't think that is glue. Looks like compounded to aid in heat transfer. It will help the heat dissipate into the metal and act as a radiator.

You probably could have done same with the existing motor and just used the new battery and controller. It's called ”over-volting" the motor. It probably would have been fine.

Personally, I would've rather seen the same bike with an ev swap, just to make it as comparable as possible. Larger bike probably has more potential for swaps anyways, as it's taller and wider, probably longer too. With some work and tetris skills, I'm sure you could get the battery, controller, and motor to all fit within where the engine would sit, with the only modifications being physical protection for the battery pack.

i dont care about the performance on the electeric one because i had the same motor and controller on mine and i had to replace the motor and the batteries on mine several times for $400 each time every 2 months or so of use until i got a gas one from harbor freight for $100 and after 3 years i still havent touched the motor. get gas its better the 6.5 gets around 115 miles on the small half gallon tank.

You should put a big sprocket on front and a small sprocket on back and you'd go a lot faster the big sprocket on back actually makes you go slower

Rich rebuilds can't make a custom battery box? Change front and back sprocket for higher top speed, will still have plenty of torque to get going.

What you think of the build quality of em3ev battery packs? Supposedly they're really good packs, but are they the best in terms of safety design from fire?

Sick little bike. I had the same bike in my Amazon cart when they had a sale. I ended up buying a 20" schwinn grey ghost bike and putting a 1500 watt controller and rear hub motor. Thing zips around and only time a cop stopped me was to ask if he could ride it. I had to keep the "soft start" on cuz it just kept throwing the front tire up. How many AH is that 72v battery? Looks big, and lipo. Imagine getting two that are half the size/ah, and run them in series? Can't wait for summer to come so I can enjoy my toys. Just wish there were more people in the north east not afraid of cops. Nobody wants to actually ride them once built.
